PRIVACY POLICY

Effective August 2026 · applies to Backtick, the terminal-widgets app by Elvis Mederos.

The short version

The app collects nothing. There is no server, no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDK. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted to the developer or anyone else.

What the app reads, and where it stays

• Calendar and reminders — read on your device through Apple's EventKit, only to draw them in your widgets. Never transmitted.
• Location — an approximate coordinate is used to request local weather from Apple Weather (WeatherKit), via Apple's own framework under Apple's terms. The developer never receives it.
• Motion — steps, walking distance and flights climbed are read on-device from the motion coprocessor (Apple's CoreMotion pedometer), only to draw them in your widgets. Motion data is never transmitted anywhere and is never used for any other purpose.
• Device stats — battery, storage and uptime are read locally for the system panel.

All of it lives on your device (and in the app's private App Group storage shared with its own widgets). Deleting the app deletes everything.

Purchases

The one-time Pro unlock is processed entirely by Apple. The developer sees only Apple's standard anonymized sales reporting.

Permissions are optional

Every permission can be declined or revoked in Settings; the matching widget panel simply goes dark.
